Point of Origin: French Polynesia
Height / Length:
- 25 meters tall and 71 meters long ( on all fours )
- 57 meters tall while standing
Weight: 63,500 tons
Physical Description: The Megavolt Monster is a massive, strong kaiju that was first discovered in the deeper waters off of French Polynesia. It’s skin is a scaly, hard, purple suit of armor, while its head is topped off by two protruding horns that are stained an off-yellow bone color. The left and right sides of its head are developing a slight defensive crest to protect its neck. The Megavolt Monster’s two forelimbs ( arms ) are longer and more muscular than the back legs by a few meters, and its hands, while outfitted with shorter fingers that are surprisingly articulate. A long, powerful tail accents the creatures amazing swimming ability, and it ends with a large, wide fin, similar to that of a whale or dolphin.
Behavior: A being of lesser intelligence, the Megavolt Monster is an aggressive, predatory animal that is known for its less-than-subtle tactics. It will most likely charge into battle headlong instead of trying to sneak up on its target. Feeding primarily on electricity, it is also known for direct attacks on human establishments, causing a great deal of destruction while moving towards its intended target ( usually a power plant or electrical substation ). Like Godzilla, it is also known to constantly advance in battle, never backing down or retreating until it is badly wounded.
Attacks and Abilities:
- Skin: The Megavolt Monsters skin is like a suit of chain mail that is designed to protect its body.
- Armor: The Megavolt Monsters skin is covered in hardened armor-like scales.
- Defensive Juke: Because of its incredible agility, the Megavolt Monster can often jump away or dodge an enemies attack to avoid damage.
- Electrical Torrent : A wave of condensed electrical energy can be fired from the Megavolt Monsters tail that has the ability to seer through almost all armor and skin. This attack can often stun mechanical systems.
- Electrical Charge: A short, condensed blast of electrical energy fired from the Megavolt Monsters face that has the ability to temporarily stun or blind its opponent.
- Bio-Shock: The Megavolt Monster has the ability to electrocute any enemy foolish enough to grab a hold of it in much the same fashion as an electric eel.
Origin: The Megavolt Monster is thought to be an indirect result of nuclear testing in French Polynesia. More than two thousand nuclear tests were performed in the island chain during the 1950’s and 60’s, which are thought to have awoken the creature during its oceanic hibernation. The first reported sightings of a large animal in the waters off the island were reported in the deeper regions of the Pacific Ocean north of the archipelago.
The first confirmation of the creatures existence came from a KEIS research voyage in 1986. One video, as well as three pictures and a SONAR print, confirmed the existence of a large, unknown creature that was most likely amphibious ( according to the observed physiology ), as well as strange electrical and electromagnetic readings in the water. The next SONAR confirmation came from much shallower water in 1988 when the monster sank a Tahitian fishing trawler off the northern shore Maupiti.
As the world slowly began to change, so too did the habits of the Megavolt Monster. The creature came ashore at Tupai in 1991, destroying an electrical substation in what was apparently an attempt to recharge. Being a resort island, there were literally hundreds of sets of camera’s to capture the movement of the beast, as well as key images that could be used for intelligence purposes by KEIS later. Aside from basic deep sea sightings ( which are slowly beginning to move into the Northern Pacific Ocean ), not much of the Megavolt Monster has been seen since.
Because of the creatures limited exposure to humans, the U.N.K.C.C. has been unable to classify the animal or theorize on its possible origin, although it is speculated that it may be one of the last of an ancient species of amphibious reptile. It is unclear if the creature is a result of nuclear mutation or a naturally occurring freak of nature that has grown to monstrous proportions.
Sample Roleplay: It had been stirring in the waters off of Kagoshima, hiding in the waters of the bay for the last week or so. It would soon be time to feed, and the Megavolt Monster had begun to move towards land in order to satisfy its hunger for raw electrical energy. Its body was basically a living battery that was able to generate some of its own power, but sometimes, after long spells at sea, that battery needed to be recharged.
A glossy white eye cracked open at the bottom of the bay as sunlight began to penetrate the depths. The monsters eyes scanned the water around it, confirming that nothing else was there as it began to stir. Then it moved forward with surprising speed, undulating its paddled tail in rhythm with its mighty forelimbs, propelling itself towards the Kagoshima waterfront. Tiny specs were playing happily in the water, unsuspecting of the terror they were about to encounter.
The people on the beach were completely taken by surprise as the monster surfaced, breaking the top of the water with ease and pushing a massive wave forward with its inertia. Those who were on the beach that were unlucky enough to get swept up in the energy of the wave were either trampled or snapped up like appetizers as the monster rushed inland to feed. There were frantic screams of horror as people searched for their loved ones and tried to flee for cover. Some made it, but some did not, as the Megavolt Monster cleared the beach in a matter of seconds and began crashing its way through downtown Kagoshima…
